I tried to take a pic for y'all today of a girl in side-slit leggings as pants, but it was too crowded and I kept getting bumped so all the photos kept coming out as pics of walls and ankles. But seriously, that girl? Agyness Deyn she was NOT.

I'll try to do better nest time. To be honest, I forget to photograph people in this city, because it's just EVERYWHERE.

There's something almost stylish about this outfit, in a sort of 'fuck the fashionistas' kind of hipstery way (the matching tube top almost brings it all together), but in the end the truth will out: leggings are never ok as pants.

Also, dog tags? One Madonna glove? Really? But they're not bad enough to distract from the original sin of the not-pants.

Well, not really, but I haven't been out and about near the leggings brigade recently, which means I haven't had much of an opportunity to photograph and humiliate them (well, in the eyes of my one reader). Besides which my new iPhone, while lovely and wonderful in every other way, is a shite camera, so the photo quality hasn't been good enough to post.

So this is a call for help. I'd love it if anybody out there wants to take pictures and send them to me, or if you want me to add you as an author I'd be glad to do that too. Any thoughts, cyberspace?

Memo to the women of NYC:
Putting a pattern on white leggings does not make them any closer to pants. In fact, it just makes them more terrifying, since they're even less effective at camouflaging skeletal pelvises. I did NOT need to see this much pubic bone in the morning:Trust me, you are SO glad I was unable to get a picture with the coat off (though not for lack of trying)!

However, the night before, my lovely boyfriend did manage to get this gorgeous shot of a much nicer (but that's no excuse) ass in similar leggings:Can somebody please explain this phenomenon to me?? Since when do white tights + cowboy boots = an outfit?!

Now first of all, let it be known that this girl is NOT FAT. I know she looks fat in this photo, but that has a lot more to do with the unfortunate angle and the less fortunate substitution of leggings in lieu of pants than it does with her actual body type. But it should also be noted that this girl, whose muscled derriere and clip-cloppy Jessica Simpson platform heels (and here I'm giving her the brand-name benefit of the doubt) caused me great difficulty in distinguishing her from an equine, was the inspiration for this blog.
I've always been a snarky people-watcher, which I will readily admit is hypocritical; I rarely wear makeup or think about my outfit before leaving the house, and I'm sure I would find my own medicine exceedingly bitter, but that's a moot point because I don't care. The bottom line is this: I'm tired of trying to describe to my friends the fashion roadkill I see every day while I'm out wandering on my own, and my cell phone happens to have a fairly decent camera function, so I've decided to cut out the middle man (me, a million times over) and post photos and comments here. Don't worry, I'll protect the identities of even the least innocent.
I have multiple other photos waiting in the wings, but I need to focus on my posts instead of just writing them with half my brain while the other half watches Starter Wife. (Damn you, Tivo.) If you care, look for updates in the coming week.
